Discover an enchanting wonderland on this small-group wildlife cruise

10 Days – Starting Quito 13 April 2023

Cruise the wonderland of the Galapagos.

Join Byroads on this enchanting Galapagos Islands cruise and get up close with spectacular wildlife and nature.

Almost 1,000 km off the coast of Ecuador lies the world famous Galapagos Islands. Set on the equator, these huge volcanic peaks, rising from the ocean floor, are home to many unique species of wildlife including the giant Galapagos tortoise. Charles Darwin’s observations of the islands’ flora and fauna played a substantial part in the formulation of his theory of evolution.

The month of April is a wonderful time to be in the Galapagos and it’s a great time to be joining a small group wildlife cruise. The weather is warmer, the seas are calmer and underwater visibility is good. The daily rain showers are also shorter and many flowers are in bloom. The warmer weather of February, March and April sees many of the land birds, sea lions, turtles and tortoises that you’ll find on the Galapagos breeding or nesting.

Your trip starts in the Ecuadorian capital of Quito, where you have a night to rest in preparation for your flight to the Galapagos the following morning. On arrival at the Baltra airport, you will meet your naturalist guide who will transfer you to the 16-berth M.Y.Fragata anchored nearby. After meeting the boat’s captain and crew your Galapagos Islands cruise will get underway.

For the next week, you will observe, swim and wander with some of the most amazing and friendliest wildlife on the planet. The wildlife, coupled with the dramatic geology of the islands, will leave you spellbound. At the end of your time in these remote islands you will reluctantly catch your flight back to Quito and to the end of your Galapagos adventure.

Your Cruise Boat

MY Fragata is one of the few owner-operated vessels in the Galapagos. The 8-person crew pride themselves on ensuring you have a wonderful time on board. The qualified naturalist guide will share with you in-depth knowledge of the unique wildlife and island geography.

Cabins on Fragata are located on two of the four decks, with both twin and double accommodation. All rooms have individual AC, private en-suite bathroom and beautiful wood floors and fittings.

The communal areas feature elegant honey-colored natural wood. The main lounge is made for socializing – a perfect place to relax with a drink from the yacht’s bar and listen to talks by your naturalist guide. The dining room reflects the boat’s friendly ambiance and meals are wholesome and delicious. There is a full-size sundeck, and a diving platform at the stern makes for easy entry and exit into the zodiacs and into the water. Snorkelling equipment can be hired on-board.
