Sri Lanka

Bhutan

The landlocked and isolated mountain nation of Bhutan sits high in the Himalayas. Sheltered from globalisation and tourism until recently, the strong Buddhist culture remains intact, giving travellers an authentic experience of Bhutanese life. Tourist numbers remain limited and measures have been taken to protect the rich traditions and spectacular landscape. Traversing Bhutan reveals soaring mountains with passes high in the clouds and views across the valleys to the snowy peaks beyond, with vast pine and rhododendron forests, clear mountain streams and intimate, traditional towns with ancient forts known as dzongs.
