Tour Highlights

ICELAND

Iceland is where the past meets the future in an elemental symphony of wind, stone, fire and ice. Iceland is, literally, a country in the making – geysers gush, mudpots gloop, Arctic gales swish along silent fjords, stone towers rise from the depths of an indigo sea, and glaciers grind their way through cracked lava fields and the merciless tundra. It’s hard not to be deeply touched by the island’s awesome beauty – few leave the country without a pang and a fervent vow to return.

GREENLAND

Cruise through some of the planet’s most spectacular fjords. The world’s biggest non-continental island has the world’s sparsest population but has been populated for well over 4,500 years! Scattered mainly along Greenland’s west coast are dozens of photogenic little villages of colourfully painted wooden cottages, as well as the capital, Nuuk Town (Godthab). Few places combine such magnificent scenery, such clarity of light and such raw power of nature.

SVLABARD ISLANDS

Svalbard formerly known by its Dutch name Spitzbergen, is a Norwegian archipelago in the Arctic Ocean. Situated north of mainland Europe it is about midway between continental Norway and the North Pole. The largest island in the group is Spitsbergen. The mining outpost of Sveagruva, Svalbard is the northernmost place in the world with a permanent population.

NORWEGIAN COASTLINE

Norway shares a large peninsula with Sweden and borders both Finland and Russia. The western coastline is world famous for its amazing and varied scenery. The fjords are long narrow inlets, flanked on either side by tall mountains where the sea penetrates far inland. The vast majority of the land is a rocky wilderness, with largely unpopulated areas, many of which have been converted to national parks. Even outside these national parks, much of the land is unspoiled nature.
