Discover the most beautiful World Heritage Island in the Pacific

A guesthouse for over 100 years, Pinetrees is now the largest resort hotel on Lord Howe Island, catering for just 85 visitors in island-friendly single-storey accommodation.

The appearance of the island and its unspoilt environment draws visitors of all ages back time and time again. Pinetrees is centrally located so it makes an ideal base from which to explore and discover the best that Lord Howe has to offer. The lagoon beach is just across the road, perfect for your early morning swim! Pinetrees' "Boatshed" is set right on the lagoon in front of the resort and is a great place for a long, cool drink as the sun sinks into the sea.

Endless activities ... or just relax
Take a short bike ride to the golf course or take in the champagne surf at Blinky; enjoy a lazy day at Lovers Bay, stretch out on Old Settlement Beach or hand-feed the fish at Ned's Beach. Visit cafes, the island's museum, bowling green, shops, post office and various churches.

Walk through the Kentia palms on the island's many marked tracks; enjoy gentle strolls or push up the pace with rewarding hikes that end with breathtaking views. Climb to the top of Mt Gower (875 m) with knowledgeable island guides, see Woodhens or winter-nesting Providence Petrels on the forest track to Little Island, fish from the shore or from a deep-sea fishing boat, cruise around the island and visit smaller off-shore islands crammed with nesting birds - the activities are endless. Scuba-dive in Lord Howe's magical underwater environment or take a glass-bottom boat trip to see more of the reef. Simply lose yourself exploring the bays and beaches.

No matter how you choose to spend your day, Pinetrees will pack your lunch - cold, picnic style or classic Australian barbeque - you can spend all day relaxing, bird-watching, fishing, snorkelling or just lazing in the sun.

Accommodation Packages to suit your needs - family, honeymoon, couples, special-interest groups
Open all-year round and offering attractive all-inclusive packages, Pinetrees provides five types of accommodation, plus a three-bedroom cottage and a four bedroom cottage.

Pinetrees' professional chefs prepare superb meals from breakfast to dinner, all included in the tariff. The menu is inspired, with the best fish you've ever tasted, homemade bread, fresh vegetables and delicious desserts included. Enjoy a romantic candlelit dinner for two, join newfound friends or delight in a lively evening with your family - it's up to you.

All that Jazz ...
During June-July-August, Pinetrees offers an excellent program of Bushwalking and Jazz, all included in the package price. Featuring some of Australia's best jazz musicians, this has been an annual event since 1992 and each year is more exciting than the last.

Lord Howe Island - widely regarded as the most beautiful island in the Pacific - is less than two hours' flight from either Sydney or Brisbane off Australia's east coast and is one of just four island groups to be inscribed on UNESCO's World Heritage list for the global significance of its natural beauty and heritage. Volcanic peaks, verdant rainforests, white sand beaches, rolling surf and tranquil lagoon combine to form an idyllic experience.

Pinetrees is perfectly situated in this timeless natural paradise, where the pace is relaxed but where there are plenty of activities and adventures from which to choose.
Pinetrees' experienced fifth-generation island hosts will ensure that your stay on Lord Howe is the kind of holiday experience you'll never want to leave.

'There is really no way of preparing the first-time visitor for the experience of Lord Howe Island, because places like this are supposed to no longer exist.'
