Buenos Aires, Salta, Lake Uyuni, Potosi, La Paz, Cuzco, Machu Picchu

Train travel through the Andes has taken a new turn in recent times with the revival of old railway routes and the launch of sleek new luxury trains that wend their way through the wild and dramatic landscapes. Using a variety of trains with coach and plane connections, your tour will traverse the clouds in Argentina, World Heritage listed cities in Bolivia and to the lost world of the Incas in Peru.

The wild Andean mountains have been home to advanced civilisations for millennia. The legacy of these cultures and that of the European conquerors who followed is found in abundance on this unique adventure.

The timing of this tour couldn’t be better as the last day of the tour is also the first day of the legendary Golden Oldies Rugby Festival held this year in Mar Del Plata south of Buenos Aires.

Colin Schroeder

Colin Schroeder

Colin can’t remember a time when he wasn’t fascinated with railways. This fascination has taken him around the World several times, visiting more than sixty countries, in search of unique railway adventures.

Colin has lived for over twelve months in South America, photographing the passing of steam locomotives and riding trains on some of the World’s highest railway lines. This has given Colin an in depth knowledge of the South American Continent and an appreciation of which railways are a must to experience.

Colin has also travelled extensively exploring some of the major cultural sites around the World. His interest in travel led him to study for and gain a Certificate in Tour Guiding and Management and a Certificate in Inbound Tour Operations.
