The Seniors Holiday Travel story goes back to 1988, when Perry Morcombe (pictured right) had a "light bulb moment" and set up a business to arrange packages for pensioners, using their free rail vouchers, on the Queensland Rail trains, the first being a return trip from Brisbane up to Cairns on The Sunlander, 5 nights accommodation with breakfast and three course dinner daily, two cruises and a trip up to Kuranda on the famous Kuranda Scenic Rail, as well as transfers in Cairns... Within several months Perry was sending over two hundred senior travellers a month up to Cairns.

The next year, Perry's business, the Seniors Holiday Travel Club, had built up its membership and those who had been to Cairns wanted a new holiday so the rail packages expanded to include Rockhampton, Yeppoon, Airlie Beach, Bundaberg, Charleville and Longreach.

From here there was no looking back and Perry and his wife, Joan, started sending groups of club members to Tasmania, New Zealand, Western Australia for the Wildflowers, Canada & Alaska, UK & Europe, Scandinavia & Iceland, Egypt, China, Vietnam, South America, Eastern USA in the Fall and many other destinations, as well as putting together many of their own exclusive group tours in Australia.

Club members also caught the 'cruising bug' and as Seniors Holiday Travel is an accredited member agency of ICCA, the International Cruise Council of Australia and boasts membership of CruiseCo, Australia's cruise wholesaler, it has been able to send hundreds of its members on wonderful cruises every year.

The Solo Travellers Club has been formed to help Single Travellers avoid the often costly and dreaded Single Supplement. The Solo Travellers Club Co-ordinator organises regular meetings and outings to allow Solo Travellers Club Members to get to know one another and hopefully find a compatible travelling companion. "Singles Only" Group Tours are also organised to various destinations throughout the year.
