Walking in our world

Small-group walking journeys in Australia, New Zealand, Europe, Africa, Asia and the Americas

Starting in 1975 with just one tour to the west coast of North America, family-owned interNATIONAL PARKtours now operates walking tours in Australia and 20 countries in Europe, Africa, Asia, America and the Pacific.

Enjoy half-day and full-day walks in national parks and wilderness areas. Carry nothing more than a day pack so you have the freedom to explore. Relax and unwind at the end of the day in comfortable accommodation, enjoying delicious local cuisine. You work up a healthy appetite when walking, so there's a good deal of focus on food! These elements combine to give you a refreshing and energising holiday.

Each year interNATIONAL PARKtours looks forward to stepping out of daily life and travelling this world with new and old friends in small groups of 8-20 companions. Before and during a tour, connections are made, plans become reality and experiences are shared. Travel at a relaxed pace, finding energy, peace and discoveries along the way.

Travel is a privilege, an education, a revelation and a way to bridge differences. There's a world of wonderful places waiting to be discovered. interNATIONAL PARKtours would love to explore them with you.

Walking Tours

These tours are about being active and walking on our beautiful planet, but buses, trains, boats, planes, chairlifts and cable cars are also used as transport around countries and to the trailheads.

There is often more than one guide, so you can choose easy or more challenging walking options. Quite often you can also extend or shorten the main group day walk.

Depending on the tour, walks vary from two to three hours on graded tracks to full day hikes in high mountain country.

On day walks, you carry just a daypack and return to a hotel or camp in the afternoon. On through-walks, your main luggage is transported to the next location while you walk with a daypack. Each tour's detailed itinerary includes a description of the walking options.

Choosing the right tour
InterNATIONAL PARK Tours designs walking tours for various levels of fitness, so that you can match your fitness to the tour. Detailed descriptions and advice from tour guides will help you with your choice.

Unique accommodation
Accommodation varies from lodge accommodation in Lamington National Park to chalets in the Australian Alps; from a stunning mountaintop kasbah in the Atlas Mountains to local minshuku accommodation in rural Japan.

Where possible, places to stay are based on their unique character or history, location and atmosphere. In national parks, this is usually close to the walking tracks; in urban areas central locations deliver the best experience.

In most places, stays are for two to four nights and sometimes longer so that you can slow down, unpack your bags and adjust to the local pace.
