Sea kayaking from ice-breakers
A large dose of cool is injected into each of these exciting itineraries – you're about to embark on a thrilling, close-to-nature adventure, ranging from serene paddling to encounters with whales and polar bears. Southern Sea Ventures takes active adventurers of all ages, from 16 years up, in small groups of 6-12, on ship-based kayak trips in Antarctic, Russian and Arctic destinations.
Ice-strengthened expedition ships, Polar Pioneer and its sister ship Akademik Shokalskiy, provide a comfortable base for paddlers. Accommodating 54 passengers, a maximum of 12 may kayak during the voyage. Accommodation is simple yet comfortable; all cabins have outside portholes. The ship has medical services, a library, cosy bar and qualified chefs. Onboard lectures by naturalists and historians unlock the mysteries of the areas you visit.
